Got an idea that could power the city of tomorrow?

The world needs smart solutions that blend technology, data and creativity to tackle the challenges of modern day city living.

We’re opening our doors for eight of the best start-ups/SMEs to work with some of the world’s leading technology companies as part of an eight week open innovation initiative.

We're solving challenges in Energy & Environment, Health & Social Care, and Travel & Transport

Please apply for the theme most relevant to you, and if you have any questions before you apply then feel free to contact us.

Energy & Environment

  • Use data from existing and external data sources to create a non-intrusive and cost-effective solution that optimises energy consumption and reduces carbon emissions in commercial buildings.

Health & Social Care

  • Create a solution using data collected from home monitoring systems, that enables triggered intervention and care for the elderly to ease the reliance on healthcare providers.

Travel & Transport

  • Increase usage and traveller satisfaction by using smart technology to improve the end user experience of public transport.

Wildcard brief

  • Does your solution not quite fit any of the briefs above? Apply as a wildcard – we’re very interested in additional IoT, data-driven or smart solutions to improve our cities using the data sources available on the CityVerve platform

Applications are now closed

The final selection day will be held on the 6th of March 2018, and the programme will kick off on the 19th of March before ending in May.

True innovation comes from true collaboration.

The CityVerve consortium is collecting and sharing data from across the city to create a range of smart city solutions to benefit the city and the people living, working in and visiting it.

The vision? To create smart city solutions that can be tried and tested in Manchester, but ultimately be applied to smart cities all over the world.

Working alongside our partners and specialist growth agencies, we want your help to create and demonstrate innovative solutions that tackle three distinct issues facing our city.
